Lewis Hamilton suggests Michael Schumacher's accident 'happened for a reason'

Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton suggests that Michael Schumacher's skiing accident 'happened for a reason'.

Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton is hopeful that Michael Schumacher will awake from his coma, but believes that the sportsman's skiing accident 'happened for a reason'.

The German sportsman has been in an induced coma since he hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in the French Alps on December 29.

The most recent news coming out of the Grenoble University Hospital is that Schumacher is showing "small, encouraging signs" of recovery.

"I am in touch with his people so I am fortunate to get first-hand news of what's happening, and we are all waiting for him to wake up and show those positive signs," the Daily Star quotes Hamilton as saying.

"He's a legend in the sport who has achieved so much, a very motivated individual. I feel like all things happen for a reason."

Hamilton replaced Schumacher at Mercedes in 2013.
