Rooney 'used beer as mobile password'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney used the name of a beer as his mobile phone password, it has been revealed.

The information is said to have been read out during the current phone hacking case, in which Rooney is believed to have been one of the famous figures targeted.

According to The Times, private investigator Glenn Mulcaire, who was hired by the News of the World to hack celebrities' phones, wrote in a notebook that Rooney's mobile password was 'Stella Artois'.

During the case, it was also confirmed that the newspaper's story claiming that Rooney had had sex with grandmother Patricia Tierney in Diva's massage parlour in Liverpool was untrue.
