Paddy Power call for TV boxing 'rematch' between Wayne Rooney, Phil Bardsley

Paddy Power reportedly offer to give £50,000 to charity to stage a boxing rematch between Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and Stoke City's Phil Bardsley.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have reportedly offered to give £50,000 to charity to get Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and Stoke City's Phil Bardsley in the boxing ring.

The pair made headlines after a video emerged at the weekend of Bardsley appearing to knock out Rooney during a sparring session at the England captain's home.

Now, according to The Mirror, Paddy Power are keen for a charity rematch, which they claim "could be as big" as the bout between Carl Froch and George Groves last year.

The Irish bookmakers have offered odds of 18/1 for Rooney to be knocked out in the first round against Bardsley, who spent five years of his senior career at United.

Rooney poked fun at the clip by pretending to suffer a knockout punch during his goal celebration after scoring in United's 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.
