Nike insist they remain in negotiations with Manchester United over kit deal

Nike insist that they are still in talks with Manchester United regarding a new kit deal, despite initial reports that the global sportswear giants had walked away.

Global sportswear giants Nike have insisted that they are still in discussions with Manchester United regarding a new kit deal, despite reports that they had ended negotiations.

On Monday, rivals Adidas emerged as the favourites to land a big-money deal with the former Premier League champions after Nike reportedly decided against continuing their relationship with the Red Devils.

Nike have the right to match any offer tabled due to their current 13-year kit deal with the North-West outfit, but it has been reported that the company are unwilling to meet United's asking price.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, a Nike spokeswoman said: "Manchester United are a great club and we remain in discussions with them."

It has been claimed that United could earn £60m per year from the new deal.
