Manchester United to refund fans for Bournemouth clash after 'bomb' blunder

Manchester United offer to refund fans after Sunday's Premier League match against Bournemouth at Old Trafford was called off due to a fake bomb.

Manchester United have offered to refund tickets for supporters after yesterday's match against Bournemouth at Old Trafford was abandoned due to a bomb scare.

The stadium was evacuated shortly before United and Bournemouth were due to kick off on the final day of the Premier League season after a suspicious device was found.

Security staff at the ground found a mobile phone with wires attached to a gas pipe in the men's toilets located on the fifth floor of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.

Once the stadium was empty, the bomb squad was called in to perform a controlled explosion, but later that night it was confirmed by police that the object found was a "training device" accidentally left behind following a training exercise.

The club, who are launching their own investigation into the fake bomb, have now offered to refund tickets, which will allow fans to attend the rescheduled match for free on Tuesday evening.

The refunds are expected to cost United £3m.
