A Turkish hotel owner has set up a fundraising campaign to help a four-year-old boy meet his hero Robin van Persie.

Manchester United supporter Louis Diamond became an internet hit when a video emerged on social media of the youngster crying when hearing that Van Persie could leave Old Trafford.

The Dutch striker is close to signing for Istanbul-based club Fenerbahce, but a crowdfunding campaign has been created with the hope of raising enough money to send Louis and his father to Turkey to meet Van Persie.

"Going to Turkey would be a dream come true, and seeing Van Persie play for Fenerbahce would be amazing," Louis's father Sam told the Manchester Evening News.

Ragip Ulas Altun set up the Indiegogo page after seeing the video of the distraught child.
