Patrick Vieira claims that authorities in Italian football do not want to fight against racism and says that black players in the peninsula must "accept" that they will be racially abused.

Former Juventus and Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira has claimed that Italian football "doesn't want to fight racism".

The 36-year-old, who also played for AC Milan, says that black players moving to Italy should learn to accept the fact that they will be racially abused by supporters inside the stadiums.

"I believe that Italy doesn't want to fight racism," the Frenchman told The Times. "For me, that is clear.

"I don't want England to get where Italy is because Italy will never fight against it.

"As a black player, if you go to play in Italy, you have to expect that [you will be racially abused] and you have to accept it."

Vieira is currently working as a Football Development Executive at Manchester City.
