Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart says that he has no desire to join up to social network sites like Twitter and Facebook.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has admitted that he has no interest in social network sites Twitter and Facebook.

While a number of high profile footballers have embraced social media, the England international believes that "nobody really cares" about what emerges from these websites.

"I'm not into any of the social network sites," Hart told the Daily Mail. "I've got a phone and that's it. It's a big part of the world at the minute and it's interesting to read about but some of the stuff is pathetic and ridiculous. I think everyone appreciates that.

"It makes the news and everyone reads it but nobody actually really cares. There's obviously some more serious issues but if it's officially you on one of those sites then you've got to be responsible for your actions."

Regular users of Twitter include Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand and Marseille midfielder Joey Barton.
