Suarez, Torres to play in Gerrard tribute match?

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has reportedly asked former teammates Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso to play in a charity match at Anfield to mark his 25-year career at the club.

The 34-year-old, who will join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season, is believed to have set aside March 29, during the international break, to host a special match on Merseyside.

According to Marca, Gerrard wants Suarez and Torres, both of whom now play in Spain, and Alonso, who plies his trade at Bayern Munich, to be part of the occasion. Javier Mascherano and Pepe Reina could also get involved.

This week, John Arne Riise, who spent seven years of his career playing for Liverpool, confirmed via Instagram that he will play in the match.

He wrote: "Feeling very honored to have been invited to play in Steven Gerrards Charity match 29th of March. Can't wait to see some great legends of teammates again on the pitch."

Luis Garcia is also expected to feature.
