Sterling 'quizzed over woman's assault'

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has been questioned by police in connection with an alleged assault on a woman, according to The Mirror.

The 17-year-old was summoned to the police station regarding an incident on November 2 that left a 27-year-old woman with "slight injuries".

Sterling, who made his England debut in last week's 4-2 defeat in Stockholm, was held under caution but later released without charge.

A police spokesperson said: "Merseyside police can confirm that a 17-year-old male from the Woolton area was interviewed under caution following a report of an assault on Friday, November 2.

"A 27-year-old woman received slight injuries during the incident in the Liverpool 8 area. The investigation is ongoing and no formal action has been taken."

The winger has started 11 league games this season.
