Sterling charged with assault

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has been charged with assault following an alleged altercation with a woman.

The 18-year-old has been accused of causing 'slight' facial injuries to a 27-year-old woman during an incident in Toxteth, Liverpool on November 2.

Mick Hogan, the solicitor representing the teen, told Liverpool Magistrates' Court that Sterling intends to plead not guilty to the charge and that the Merseyside club are "very supportive", according to The Metro.

The court adjourned the case until February 22.
