Liverpool's Jonjo Shelvey defends buying a "cheap" hoover

Shelvey saves money on hoover

Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has defended buying a "cheap" hoover after getting criticism on Twitter.

The 20-year-old claimed on the social network site that he had picked up the home appliance from shop Comet, who have gone into administration and are currently having going-out-of-business sales.

Shelvey tweeted: "Currently in comet getting a Hoover on the cheap as they're closing down #bargain. So what if I play football . Don't stop me from buying things on the cheap . Relax yourselves."

The former Charlton Athletic player signed a new long-term contract at Anfield in the summer.
