Lord Justice Goldring has been appointed as the deputy coroner for the new inquiry into the Hillsborough disaster.
The tragedy, which resulted in the death of 96 Liverpool fans following a crush at the Hillsborough stadium in 1989, was given a fresh inquest by the High Court following the exposure of fabricated police statements and false timings of death relating to the disaster over 23 years ago.
Lord Justice Goldring has insisted that he aims to open the inquests as quickly as possible, according to Sky Sports News.
The original inquest, which came to the verdict of accidental deaths, was overturned last year.
