Comedian John Oliver reveals how he met Liverpool players naked

English comedian John Oliver has told the story of how he had an awkward encounter with the Liverpool first team during their pre-season tour of the USA last summer.

The 37-year-old, who is a lifelong Liverpool fan, appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and revealed that he met the team while they were all naked.

"In my defence, I knew it wouldn't go well," he said. "These were my heroes - I love these men, I absolutely love them. Someone from the club said do you want to meet them in the locker room afterwards and I said, 'no, that is a terrible idea because I love them more than I can articulate to you'."

Oliver went on to say that he agreed to meet the players, but he picked the wrong time as they were all coming out of the showers when he arrived.

"At that moment, the entire Liverpool team completely naked emerged through the steam, and now my relationship's changed," he added.

Liverpool visited Boston, Chicago, New York and Charlotte during their tour of the USA last year.
