Leicester City fan banned for 'throwing missile' onto pitch after game

A Leicester City supporter is handed a three-year banning order for throwing a smoke grenade onto the pitch following his team's away win over Tottenham in the FA Cup.

A Leicester City supporter has been handed a three-year banning order after throwing a smoke grenade onto the White Hart Lane pitch following an FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Daniel Storer, 21, was charged with throwing a missile towards the playing area from the away end after the Foxes' 2-1 victory over Spurs in the FA Cup in January.

Leicester's official website has confirmed that the supporter pleaded guilty to the offence at North London Magistrates' Court on February 16.

A spokesman for the Premier League club said: "The welfare of supporters is the club's highest priority and we will continue to work with Leicestershire Police and other relevant authorities to prevent supporter safety being compromised.

"The club has a zero-tolerance approach to the use of flares, smoke bombs and pyrotechnics of any kind and supports the issuing of bans in any incidents of this nature."

The 21-year-old was also issued with a fine.
