Scottish Premiership club Hearts hit by internet fraud

Hearts join fellow Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical in revealing that they were victims of an elaborate fraud.

Hearts have revealed that they have been hit by an elaborate internet fraud.

The announcement comes on the same day that fellow Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical announced that they were targeted by fraudsters.

A statement from the Tynecastle club read: "Heart of Midlothian can confirm it was the subject of an internet fraud earlier this year.

"The matter is now part of an active police investigation and therefore no further comment will be made."

Hamilton had confirmed earlier on Friday that a criminal investigation is ongoing and details of the plot will not be divulged until initial inquiries have been made.
