Ghana ball boy paid same as players

A report into Ghana's performance at the 2014 World Cup reveals that the ball boy was paid $100,000 per match, while the official team drummer picked up more than $5,000.

A report into Ghana's early exit from the 2014 World Cup has found that the team's ball boy was earning as much as the players.

The Black Stars were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament amid reports of players falling out with the coach and the country's FA having to fly out a plane full of cash to settle a dispute with the squad.

The 396-page report has revealed that Ismail Hamidu was earning $100,000 (£64,000) per match, the same figure as each player and the coaching staff, while the squad's official drummer picked up a match fee of $5,263 (£3,345).

Ghana lost to Portugal and the United States in their group, while sharing a 2-2 draw with eventual champions Germany.
