Everton fans drink more units of alcohol than any other group of supporters in the Premier League, a recent survey suggests.

According to research carried out by FootballTips.com, the Toffees faithful consume 43 units per week, three units more than second-placed Crystal Palace and eight more than Chelsea supporters in third.

For the study, 2,400 UK-based football fans aged 18 or over were quizzed about their drinking habits and other lifestyle choices, with respondents split evenly across the top flight's 20 clubs.

The survey was carried out to "gain further insight into the lifestyle of fans of the beautiful game".

In addition to revealing that Everton fans drink the most, the data also suggests that Manchester United supporters have the most smokers among their ranks and Liverpool have the most fans who are in debt.
