Former Manchester United and England star Nobby Stiles has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The 71-year-old, who won the World Cup with England in 1966, represented his country for five years and played for United for just over a decade.

Stiles was told the news on a routine trip to his doctor, according to the Daily Star.

The former footballer's family are said to feel confident that Stiles, who was awarded an MBE in 2000, will overcome the illness.
