The boundary at Lord's cricket ground has been moved due to health and safety concerns.
A three-yard gap between the rope and the perimeter has been made in order to prevent players from slamming into the hoardings when trying to stop a four from being scored.
"It's a shame," The Sun quotes England captain Alastair Cook as saying. "I'm all for a bit of tradition, but if someone goes diving full length into that wall in front of the pavilion they could be hurt."
England and New Zealand are currently competing at Lord's in the first one-day international against New Zealand.
