Peacock issues religious marriage advice

Former Chelsea player Gavin Peacock has left a number of his Twitter followers bemused after posting his thoughts on marriage.

According to reports, the 47-year-old, who retired from football in 2002, is an Elder and Pastor at Calvary Grace Church in Canada.

Today, Peacock took to his Twitter page to write: "Husbands: one of your primary duties in loving your wife is to feed her with the Word of God daily.

"Wives: one of the primary ways you are to respect your husband is by gladly submitting to and encouraging his leadership.

"God's divine design for marriage in male headship and female submission is complementary not competitive."

As well as Chelsea, Peacock played for Queens Park Rangers, Gillingham, Bournemouth and Newcastle United during his career.
