Chelsea 'to wear black armbands for Attenborough'

The Chelsea team will pay respect to Richard Attenborough this Saturday by wearing black armbands to mark his passing.

The actor, who was life president at Stamford Bridge, passed away at the weekend at the age of 90.

Attenborough, who also worked as a film director, held the position of Chelsea director during a 10-year stint on the board of the club that he supported throughout his life.

According to The Guardian, the Blues players will don black armbands during this weekend's Premier League match against Everton at Goodison Park.

Attenborough, whose film roles include Miracle on 34th Street and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, won the Oscar for best director in 1983 for his work on Gandhi.
