Chelsea fan re-bailed pending further investigation over 'monkey gesture'

Chelsea fan re-bailed

The Chelsea fan arrested for allegedly racially abusing Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has been re-bailed pending further investigation by the police.

Gavin Kirkham was arrested earlier this month after he was caught on camera making a monkey gesture towards Welbeck.

After he was released by the authorities on bail, the 28-year-old was due to return to West London police station today but has since been re-bailed as the investigation continues, according to the Daily Mail.

Kirkham, who is due to return to the station next month, was banned from attending Chelsea matches following his arrest.
