Cambridge United begin breathalyser initiative to prevent alcohol-related crime

League Two side Cambridge United become the first club to breathalyse fans upon their arrival to the stadium.

Cambridge United have begun a new initiative that involves breathalysing supporters before they enter the Abbey Stadium.

The League Two side became the first club in the country to pick up the scheme prior to their final game of the season against Burton Albion, who won the encounter 3-2.

The rules state that any football fan found to be more than twice over the legal limit could be prevented from entering the stadium entirely.

There is a chance that the project will be used at numerous grounds in the Football League and Premier League if it is a success.
