Bastia's Brandao given one-month jail sentence for headbutting Thiago Motta

Brandao sentenced to one month in jail

Bastia striker Brandao has been sentenced to one month in prison after headbutting Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta.

The Brazilian was issued with a six-month ban by the Ligue de Football Professionnel after committing the offence in August.

The 34-year-old broke Motta's nose in the tunnel at Parc des Princes at the end of Bastia's 2-0 defeat on away turf.

According to ITV Sport, Brandao was handed the sentence today, but is expected to carry out community service as opposed to spending time behind bars.

Brandao was also fined around £15,800.
