Barcelona star Neymar ordered to appear in court over fraud allegations

Barcelona star Neymar is reportedly ordered to appear in court over allegations of fraud.

Barcelona star Neymar has reportedly been ordered to appear in court over allegations of fraud.

The Brazilian attacker is at the centre of a dispute in relation to the reported €57m (£48.6m) transfer fee that was paid by Barcelona to Santos in 2013.

Company DIS, who owned a percentage of Neymar's registration when he signed for Barca, is claiming that it did not receive the correct amount of money from the Catalan giants when the transfer took place.

According to AFP, Neymar, both of his parents, Barcelona club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his predecessor Sandro Rosell have been ordered to testify in Spain's national court.

Two directors from Santos have also been told by the court that they need to give evidence in relation to the allegations.

Neymar, who came third in Monday's FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony, is due to appear in court on February 2.
