Andres Iniesta thanks fans for support

Andres Iniesta has taken to Facebook to thank the Barcelona fans for their support after the midfielder's wife Anna suffered a miscarriage.

The Spaniard missed his side's 1-0 defeat to Real Valladolid due to "personal reasons", with it later being revealed that the couple had lost their unborn child.

"Good Evening. On behalf of Anna, myself and our families, we can't thank you enough for all of your support and affection over these last several days," wrote Iniesta.

"My family and I are overwhelmed and infinitely grateful to all of you. There are difficult times and we thank you for respecting our privacy. We're certain that for up above, the little one will help us... Big hugs for everyone."

It is unclear when Iniesta will return to action for his club.
