Atletico Madrid fans invade pitch during David Villa unveiling

A hoard of Atletico Madrid fans attempted to get closer to new signing David Villa by invading the pitch at the Vicente Calderon.

The 31-year-old was being presented to the fans for the first time since signing a deal with the Spanish club from La Liga champions Barcelona.

After entertaining the crowd with some kick-ups on the pitch, security moved swiftly to protect Villa from groups of fans that rushed the barriers to greet their new forward.

Despite the frenzied attention around him, Villa smiled to the fans while making his way back into the ground.
