Joleon Lescott: 'Mercedes picture an accident'

Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott claims that he accidentally tweeted a picture of a Mercedes an hour after the club's humiliation against Liverpool.

Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has claimed that he accidentally tweeted a picture of a Mercedes after his side's 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.

The 33-year-old, who has a reported salary of £90,000 a week, angered Villa fans by posting a picture of an expensive car just an hour after the match at Villa Park.

"Apologies to all the fans," Lescott said later in the evening. "I would like to add that the tweet sent out from my account involving a picture of a car was totally accidental it happened whilst driving and my phone was in my pocket."

Lescott was previously accused of telling fans to "fuck off" during an FA Cup tie at Wycombe Wanderers last month.
