BBC warns pundits after Phil Neville threatened to "two-foot" Tomas Rosicky

The BBC warns football pundits to "take extra care" with their comments after Phil Neville threatened to "two-tackle" Arsenal's Tomas Rosicky.

The BBC has warned its pundits to "take extra care" when delivering their post-match verdicts, after Phil Neville said that he would "two-foot" Arsenal's Tomas Rosicky during a recent broadcast.

On Sunday's Match of the Day 2, the former Manchester United player claimed that he would "smash" Rosicky in training if he committed a "look one way, pass the other" movement.

Rosicky fooled his opponent with the pass during last weekend's 3-2 victory for Arsenal over Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup fourth round.

A statement from BBC Sport read: "This comment was not meant to offend in any way, but on reflection, Phil acknowledges that the language he used was unfortunate.

"That said, Mark Chapman did immediately challenge him and the tone of the discussion was light-hearted enough to suggest that the panel were not condoning any kind of violence or setting an example to a younger audience.

"BBC Sport will, however, remind the team to take extra care during discussions during our live programmes."

Neville clarified his comments by tweeting that he was only joking.
