Faith Pitman happy to make contribution for Team England

Bronze medallist Faith Pitman has admitted that it felt "fantastic" to make a contribution to Team England's medal tally at the Commonwealth Games on Friday.

Despite conceding that it was a disappointment to miss out on gold in the -63kg event, Pitman revealed that it was a relief to have something to show for her efforts in Glasgow.

"I'm a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist - that sounds fantastic," the 29-year-old told Team England's official website. "I came here wanting gold but to win a medal is absolutely fantastic. I was starting to get a bit worried when all my teammates started doing so well, I was worried about letting them down.

"I was determined that I wouldn't be going home without something to show for these Games because I've worked so hard for this. I'm just pleased to get something and add another tick on our medal table."

Pitman was joined by England teammate Katie Yeats-Brown in winning bronze in the -63kg event.
