Jones narrowly misses out on gold

Wales's Francesca Jones has won silver in the individual hoop competition in the rhythmic gymnastics, finishing just 0.50 points behind Canada's Patricia Bezzoubenko at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old, who was the flag bearer for Wales at the opening ceremony, picked up a small penalty during her routine, allowing Bezzoubenko to clinch top spot and the gold medal.

Malaysia's Wong San Poh completed the podium, while Jones's Wales teammate Laura Halford finished fifth.

The silver is Jones's third of the games, and matches her second-place finish in the same competition in Delhi four years ago.
