Survivors of the disgraced former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar reach a $380m settlement with USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

USA gymnasts who were abused by disgraced team doctor Larry Nassar have reached a $380m (£287.5m) settlement with USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Nassar is currently serving up to a total of 360 years in prison for sexual crimes against gymnasts under his care, which includes celebrates Olympic names such as Simone Biles and Aly Raisman.

The 58-year-old's conviction led to an ugly five-year legal battle between abuse survivors and USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee, with USAG filing for bankruptcy in 2018.

"This settlement is the result of the bravery of hundreds of survivors who, despite legal obstacles, long odds and the best corporate legal talent money can buy, refused to be silent. The power of their story eventually won the day," Attorney for the plaintiffs John Manly said at Monday's hearing.

USA Gymnastics were widely condemned for allowing Nassar to move freely between gyms during his cycle of abuse, with the former team doctor alleged to have molested over 250 athletes.
