Gabrielle Douglas wins gold in artistic gymnastics

Gabrielle Douglas has won gold for USA in the women's individual all-round artistic gymnastics with an overall score of 62.232.

The 16-year-old scored well in each of the four disciplines, with her highest score coming on the vault, where she was awarded a 15.966.

Douglas scored above 15 on the uneven bars, balance beam and the floor exercise to take gold medal ahead of Russia's Viktoria Komova, who claimed silver with a score of 61.973.

Russia also picked up bronze courtesy of Aliya Mustafina, while Team GB's Rebecca Tunney finished in 13th.

Britain's other finalist, Hannah Whelan, could only manage 24th.
