Verniaiev secures men's all-around gold for Ukraine

Oleg Verniaiev has won all-around gymnastics gold for the Ukraine at the European Games, but Great Britain's Brinn Bevan had to settle for a 14th-place finish in the final.

Bevan, participating at his first senior international event, posted a respectable score of 82.299 at the Baku Aquatics Centre.

Silver was claimed by Oleg Stepko of host nation Azerbaijan, who finished less than a point behind Olympic 2012 fourth-place finisher Verniaiev.

Russian Federation took bronze, meanwhile, as Nikita Ignatiyev edged out the chasing pack to win his country's 37th medal of the Games.
