Smith: Return has been "hard"

Team England gymnast Louis Smith has admitted that it has been difficult to return to the sport after coming out of retirement earlier this year to compete at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Smith, who won silver in the pommel horse event at the London 2012 Olympic Games, said that the return to competition was hard on his arms, but is confident that he is in good shape for England.

"I wasn't sure I'd come back [to gymnastics] after London 2012, but I always left the door open," he told BBC Sport.

"The training has been so hard after a year-and-a-half out and my arms are always aching, but I've worked as much as I can and hopefully I can surprise a few people in Glasgow."

Smith was also part of the Team GB squad that won bronze in London.
