Becky Downie to upgrade uneven bars routine for World Championships

Team England gymnast Becky Downie tells Sports Mole that she will upgrade her uneven bars routine for October's World Championships in China.

Team England gymnast Becky Downie has revealed that she will upgrade her routine for the uneven bars with the World Championships in mind.

The 22-year-old will head to China for the artistic competition, which begins on October 3, after scooping two gold medals in the team final and uneven bars final at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

"The World Championships are in about eight to 10 weeks, so they're pretty close," Downie told Sports Mole. "We'll be going home, having a couple of days just to come down, reflect on the performances from here.

"The beam routine's not going to change - we have a few connections to work on, that we do actually take out for here because I haven't done the numbers. Bars is going to have a slight upgrade, that's the plan going into the Worlds. I'm just excited to get back in the gym and get moving again."

England currently lead the artistic gymnastics medal table with 14.
