England's Joe Fraser blew the competition out of the water to win the gold medal in the artistic gymnastics pommel horse at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Only a couple of hours after watching teammates Jake Jarman and Giarnni Regini-Moran win gold and bronze respectively on floor, Fraser dazzled and delighted to add to his team gold medal.

Posting the best execution score of the day with 8.733, Fraser totalled 14.833 to dethrone reigning champion Rhys McClenaghan of Northern Ireland, who took silver with 14.133 after some separation in the legs.

Fraser's teammate James Hall also lost his form and had to settle for fifth place with a score of 13.433, as Canada's Jayson Rampersad - who qualified in eighth - won a shock bronze.

Australia's Jesse Moore had the highest difficulty start value and was seconds away from forcing his way into gold medal contention, but he lost his strength during the lift up to his final handstand and had to take a fall.

Meanwhile, history was made for Scotland in the women's vault final, as Shannon Archer let emotion take over after winning the bronze medal with an average of 13.083.

Archer performed a double-twisting yurchenko before taking a small step forward on her full-twisting tsukahara, but it was still enough to pip Emma Spence of Canada to third place.

All-around champion Georgia Godwin of Australia took the title, edging out silver medallist Laurie Denommee, as Archer celebrated winning Scotland's first-ever artistic gymnastics medal at the Commonwealth Games.
