Wiesberger takes early lead in European Open

Bernd Wiesberger has ended the first round of the European Open with a two-shot lead.

Despite hitting one double bogey, the world number 58 was superb as he hit nine birdies and an eagle to move ahead of the field.

Italy's Renato Paratore is in second position after a round of 65, while England's Steve Webster and Matthew Southgate are two of five players who are a shot further adrift, although Southgate still has seven holes of his first round to play.

A quartet of British representatives sit inside the top 10, with Michael Hoey, Graeme Storm, Tom Lewis and Matthew Baldwin all reaching the clubhouse with a score of 67.
