Jaco van Zyl maintains Turkish Airlines Open lead

Jaco van Zyl finishes the second round of the Turkish Airlines Open on 14-under-par, two shots clear going into the weekend.

Jaco van Zyl will take a two-shot lead into the final two rounds of the Turkish Airlines Open after a second-round 69.

The South African stormed to the top yesterday with an 11-under-par 61 and at one point today led the way by seven shots at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Antalya.

However, he played the final eight holes of his round in two-over to finish on 14-under for the tournament, two clear of Englishmen Richard Bland (65) and Chris Wood (66).

Bland birdied seven of his last nine holes to surge up to second, while Wood carded his second straight 66 to close in on the lead.

Victor Dubuisson (64) and Fabrizio Zanotti (66) are a further shot back, while Race To Dubai leader Rory McIlroy is four shots off the lead on 10-under-par after back-to-back 67s.

The world number three is yet to have a bogey at the tournament and did well to save par at the last after a wayward drive meant that he had to take a penalty drop on the par-five 18th.

The round of the day was shot by in-form Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick, whose nine-under 63 saw him climb 51 places to tied-11th on eight-under.
