Henrik Stenson solid as Rory McIlroy wobbles in Dubai

Henrik Stenson is joined at the top of the leaderboard by Rafael Cabrera-Bello after three rounds of the DP World Tour Championship, but Rory McIlroy falls back in Dubai.

A two-hole nightmare for Rory McIlroy saw him fall off the pace at the DP World Tour Championship, which is still being led by Henrik Stenson after three rounds.

The world number one made back-to-back double bogeys on the back nine in an otherwise impressive round, as he finished four behind the Swede in Dubai.

McIlroy had moved level with his Ryder Cup teammate courtesy of three successive birdies approaching the turn, and kept himself in contention by picking up shots on 14 and 18 to close on 10-under par.

Overnight leader Stenson, who is looking to defend a title for the first time in his career at Jumeirah Golf Estates, carded a four-under 68 and was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Rafael Cabrera-Bello.

The Spaniard produced the round of the day with seven birdies in a flawless 65, and will play alongside Stenson in the final pairing on Sunday, with Justin Rose [11 under] and Victor Dubuisson [10 under] among those in pursuit.
