Andrea Pavan, Lu Wei-Chih take early UBS Hong Kong Open lead

Fifty-three players post under-par scores in the first round of the UBS Hong Kong Open, with Andrea Pavan and Lu Wei-Chih leading the way on six-under.

Italy's Andrea Pavan and Lu Wei-Chih of Taiwan have moved into a share of the lead after the first round of the UBS Hong Kong Open.

Both men shot six-under-par rounds of 64 to lead by one shot at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

For Lu, it is a major achievement to be back on top of the leaderboard having overcome a brain tumour in recent years.

Three players, including the highest-ranked man in the field - England's Justin Rose, are one shot back following 65s.

There are 53 players under par and one of those is Ian Poulter, who took Rich Beem's invite and flew across the world at the last minute to play in the tournament so that he could keep his European Tour card and maintain his eligibility for next year's Ryder Cup.
