Alex Noren has taken the early lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship with a course-record 64.

The Swede shot the eight-under-par round at Carnoustie, putting him at the top of the leaderboard, one shot ahead of Ross Fisher, who completed his round at Kingsbarns.

Noren had an unblemished round with five birdies on the front nine, and three on the 10th, 12th and 14th holes.

His countryman Joakim Lagergren was not far behind him at Carnoustie as the 24-year-old carded a six-under-par 66 round.

The strongest finish at St Andrews was Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin, who shot five-under 67.
