Alexander Levy takes a slender lead into day two of the Open de Espana.

Alexander Levy has taken an early lead at the Open de Espana after carding a five-under-par score of 66.

The Frenchman pulled off seven birdies and two bogeys to take a slender lead into the second round as one of only 10 players with scores in the 60s.

Stuart Manley, Andrew Johnston, James Morrison and Alejandro Canizares ended the day tied in second place, one point behind Levy.

Pablo Larrazabal is two strokes back in sixth, while two-time Major winner Martin Kaymer was one of four players who came in at two-under.

Meanwhile, world number 16 Sergio Garcia - whose foundation is hosting the event - carded three birdies and six bogeys, leaving him with a disappointing three-over score of 74.
