Jacquelin takes lead, McIlroy in contention

Raphael Jacquelin has moved into the lead following a second-round 70 at Kingsbarns in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championships.

The Frenchman failed to mirror Thursday's form after hitting an opening-hole bogey and a further two down the line, but a two-under-par round was enough to put him on top on nine-under overall.

Shane Lowry, who played at St Andrew's, and Padraig Harrington are among four who sit one shot behind the lead after the second round.

Europe Ryder Cup hero Rory McIlroy has moved into contention at Kingsbarns following yesterday's opening round of 73.

The Northern Irishman hit three birdies in the first six holes before dropping two shots and then eventually going on to secure an eagle on the 16th to put him five-under for the day and five shots off the lead.
