Branden Grace moves into share of BMW SA Open lead before play suspended

Branden Grace moves into a share of the lead with Keith Horne before round two's play is suspended at the BMW SA Open due to the threat of lightning.

The top-ranked player in the field, Branden Grace, moved into a share of the lead at the BMW South African Open before round two's play was suspended this afternoon.

Home favourite Grace, the world number 14, was five-under-par after 11 holes and eight-under for the tournament when the threat of lightning brought an end to today's play.

Grace is level with fellow South African Keith Horne, who shot a three-under 69 to take the clubhouse lead at Glendower Golf Club.

Jbe Kruger is one shot back, while overnight leader Jaco van Zyl endured a tough afternoon and dropped back to three-under with three bogeys and a double-bogey on day two.

After Grace, Andy Sullivan is the next highest-ranked player at the European Tour's first event of the year. The Englishman was one of the Tour's standout players last year, but his 2016 has not got off to the best start and he looks set to miss the cut on three-over.
