Furyk storms into Pebble Beach lead

Jim Furyk shot a 63 to take the lead heading into the final day of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

The former US Open champion steadily progressed up the leaderboard after picking up strokes at the second, fourth and ninth holes to reach the turn in 33.

The 44-year-old kicked on, sinking consecutive birdies at 11, 12 and 13 before carding three more as he carded a nine-under par round on the famous California course.

Furyk now has a one-shot lead over second-round pacesetters Brandt Snedeker and Matt Jones, who both hit rounds of 67.

John Daly had looked to be in contention following his first round of 65, but subsequent rounds of 72 and 73 see the former Open champion missing the cut.
