Smylie Kaufman comes from nowhere to win Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

Smylie Kaufman shoots a 10-under-par round of 61 to bridge a seven-shot deficit and win the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Smylie Kaufman produced a glittering final-round 61 to seal a one-shot victory at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and clinch a first PGA Tour title in the process.

The American saved his best for last in Las Vegas as the 23-year-old carded eight birdies and an eagle to finish on 16-under-par for the tournament, one clear of six other players.

Overnight leader Brett Stegmaier, who brought a one-shot lead into Sunday, finished level with Patton Kizzire, Cameron Tringale, Kevin Na, Jason Bohn and Alex Cejka.

Kaufman started the final round on six-under, seven shots adrift of Stegmaier.
