Singapore Open suspended

Play at the Singapore Open has been suspended on the opening day due to a threat of lightning.

The risky weather conditions forced the first round to be postponed at a time when Thomas Bjorn took the clubhouse lead on a five-under-par 66.

The 41-year-old Dane, who has yet to claim a win this season, shot six birdies at the Sentosa Golf Club but lessened his lead slightly after securing a bogey.

Paul Casey hit a three-under-par 68, while world number one Rory McIlroy is currently level after eight holes.

Play is due to resume tomorrow.
