Manassero clinches BMW PGA Championship

Matteo Manassero has become the youngest winner the BMW PGA Championship by defeating Simon Khan on the fourth hole of a playoff at Wentworth.

The 20-year-old sunk three tricky putts in sudden-death situations to keep the playoff alive, before having the luxury of two-putting for victory to become just the second Italian to lift the title.

A third 69 of the week meant that Manassero finished on 10-under par for the championship, but it was Khan's final round of 66 that game him all the momentum. Scotland's Marc Warren also shot a 69 that saw him enter the playoff, but he was eliminated on the second hole.

When Khan found the water at 18, Manassero was able to take advantage by landing his approach safely on the green, before lagging a putt within inches and rolling in to seal his fourth European Tour title.

His previous triumphs came at the Castello Masters (2010), Malaysian Open (2011) and the Singapore Open (2012).
